We learned Georeferencing in this exercise. Georeferencing helps to align known features with unknown layers so that they line up accurately. It can be used to restore distorted pictures back to their original shape as well. This can be used when overlaying a satellite image over shape files to accurately relate the lines and polygons with actual roads and buildings on the picture.
